There has been a lot of scare with the Novel Coronavirus-19. According to WHO (World Health Organization), Influenza saw an estimated 5 million cases in 2019 with approximately 650 thousand related deaths (13 %). Currently, the Covid-19 (3/13/2020) has seen 145,003 cases and 5,411 deaths (3.7%). Hand washing is the #1 recommended prevention.
DNC Facility Services continues to closely monitor the potential impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the communities that we serve. Our trained custodians will continue to clean and disinfect the community facilities that we service, following CDC recommendations.
Community facilities (e.g., schools, daycares centers, businesses) consist of most non-healthcare settings that are visited by the general public outside of a household.
The difference between cleaning and disinfecting
Cleaning refers to the removal of dirt and impurities, including germs, from surfaces. Cleaning alone does not kill germs. However, by removing the germs, it decreases their number and therefore any risk of spreading infection.
Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs. But killing germs remaining on a surface after cleaning further reduces any risk of spreading infection.
As with the flu epidemic, we are already cleaning more frequently common areas and touchpoints (doorknobs, tabletops, countertops, etc). Typically we recommend a combo of cleaning and disinfecting when cleaning a business.
Disinfecting the less frequently used areas
Additionally, which is already common practice, we will ramp up our cleaning and disinfecting efforts to include the less frequently used areas in addition to common areas. Our trained custodial staff will continue to use hospital-grade products in their cleaning regimen to help reduce the spread of communicable illnesses.
If you see our staff wearing masks, do not be alarmed. We are simply taking an extra precaution as we enter a multitude of areas throughout the week. The safety of our staff and yours is a major priority and wearing masks will only help to keep everyone safe.
When necessary, we will also utilize our Clorox Total 360 electrostatic sprayers to clean and sanitize your facilities. Our sprayers easily spread the disinfectant from ceiling to floor with only a 3-minute wait time before anyone is allowed back into the room. This will ensure a safe, affordable, and highly effective approach to cleaning. We use these regularly in the educational facilities we serve.
We are committed to keeping your business coronavirus free
As we said earlier, our staff is committed to keeping your business coronavirus free. Our team has also committed to staying home if they are sick to protect you, our other clients, and their co-workers. We are also asking for your help. If there are symptoms of illness for any persons in your business please give us a call so that we can follow certain protocols.
A clean and disinfected business is a healthy business. Now more than ever, it’s important to be using a professionally trained cleaning service that will NOT cross-contaminate!
We will do everything that we can to ensure we meet or exceed your expectations for a healthy business. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve, enhance, expand, or increase our services to better meet your needs.
We will continue to follow the guidelines and expertise of national and local health officials to help protect our community from all communicable diseases. We also want to communicate to the community the importance of frequent handwashing, covering a cough or sneeze, not touching one’s eyes, nose and mouth, and staying home when ill.
